>> Frequently Asked Questions

What is a AAA day? It's a special school day, where teachers get to decide the
students who will be in their advisory period. Teachers most often pick students
that are struggling with a common concept. Teachers reteach this concept to their chosen individuals so that all students reach mastery.

How many students should each teacher select? This is a school based decision.
At Canarelli MS, teachers are required to pick 25 students. Special education
teachers pick 10 students.

How do I ensure that a specific teacher/dept get the students they want
on AAA day?

Early access can be granted to an entire department in the Admin Control Panel. An individual
teacher can be given early access by switching a teachers enabled access from N (no) to Y (yes)
in the Admin Control Panel.

How can an administrator determine which teachers have or have not used
the system?

At the top of the Admin Control Panel, a display of X out of X teachers have used the system, is
viewed on the screen. There is a link in the Admin Control Panel entitled Teacher Login Status.
This will display every teacher, their dept, and whether or not they have logged into the AAA
Select program.

How can an administrator determine which teachers have selected their 25
students and which ones have not?
Inside the Admin Control panel there is a link
entitled View AAA Class Sizes. This will display every teacher, their AAA room,
department, last Login, and class size.

What happens to the students that are NOT selected by a teacher? Leftover
students are given a AAA day location inside the Admin Control Panel. At Canarelli,
students who are new to the school get an orientation with the counselors. Leftover
students with a 3.5 and above GPA get an enrichment activity. Mid-level GPA
students go to PE. Students that are leftover with a GPA below 2.0 go to a
motivational session with the Dean of Students.

What does Canarelli's AAA timeline look like?
Dec 2nd (Friday) Open to the Math Dept only at 7:30am
Dec 5th (Monday) Open to Everyone
Dec 6th (Tuesday) Open to Everyone
Dec 7th (Wednesday) Open to everyone until 12pm. AAA selection is over at
12pm
Dec 8th (Thursday) Teachers notify their students of their AAA location during
advisory period.
Dec 9th (Friday) AAA Day- Students report to their regular teacher's class for
attendance and then they report to their AAA location.

How do you handle students that enroll in the school during the AAA
timeline?
The student must be added in the Admin Control Panel or else they
won't know where to go on AAA day. At Canarelli, we add them to the library
where the counselors give them an orientation on school policies and how to
succeed at our school.

How do I ensure that teachers DON'T remove a student from their AAA
schedule after AAA selection is over?
Once teacher selection is over, the
ECS needs to click, Close AAA Selection Period, in the Admin Control Panel.
This will freeze ALL AAA schedules. Teachers will NOT be able to add/remove
students from their AAA schedule. Teachers will be able to view their selection,
they just can't change it. This mode allows the ECS to schedule the left over
students so that every student has a AAA location.

How do I ensure a smooth AAA day? All staff members must work as a team
in order to carry out a successful AAA day. Here is how Canarelli breaks down the
responsibility in order of operation:

Prior to AAA selection period:

ECS -
1. Email the AAA timeline to all school employees.
2. Email the SASI export of your students to Ike Savage for import into the AAA
program.
3. Enter the cut off date for the counselor orientation in the Admin Control Panel.
4. Click on the department that will have early access to the AAA program.

AAA selection period:

Teachers - Log into the system and pick their 25 students.
ECS -
1. Remind teachers, if necessary, of their username and password.
2. Add any newly enrolled students during the AAA selection period.
Administrators - Make sure all teachers are picking their 25 students. There are
always a few teachers that need to be reminded by an administrator to select their AAA students.

Close of AAA selection period:

Administrators - Decide where left over students are going to go on AAA day.
ECS -
1. Click, close AAA Selection Period, so that teachers can NOT add/drop students
from their AAA schedule.
2. Schedule left over students in the Admin Control Panel based on administrative
decision.
3. Print the student list for each of the left over locations so that these teachers will
know who is coming to them.
Teachers - Log into the system and notify students of their AAA day location by
clicking the Advisory Student Schedules button.

AAA Day:

Teachers - Take roll and then send students to their AAA location.
Campus Security - Ensure all students arrive designated AAA location without the possibility of being tardy or truant.
Office staff - Office staff is afforded access to the Admin Control Panel in order to locate a student per a parents request.
